Net Meter in Karnataka

Karnataka ranks best in roof top solar development. It has emerged as the best state for setting up a roof top solar project, according to a survey released by the Centre. The state rooftop solar attractiveness index–SARAL released by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy on Wednesday said that Telangana, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh were among the top four states with a rating of A++. The states were evaluated on the basis of on their attractiveness for rooftop development.

 

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has set a target of 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2022, of which 100 GW solar power is to be operational by March 2022, of which 40 GW is expected to come from grid connected solar rooftops.

 

Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL), is an organization working under the purview of Energy Department, Government of Karnataka. The objectives of the KREDL is to promote renewable energy in the State and to initiate all necessary actions for Energy Conservation in the State. KREDL works through various Government Agencies, Private Organizations, NGO’s and Accredited Energy Auditors.

 

Steps by Steps Guide to Apply Net Meter in Karnataka

 

Step 1:  Search Bescom in Google. You will see the following results and open the bescom.org website

Step 2: Immediately, Bescom website will open. Now, you have to click on Solar Rooftop Online Services link for applying Net Meter.

Step – 4: When you click on Solar Roof Top Online Services, then you will see following screen where you will get the basic details of Online Application, Forms and Guidelines, etc.

Step -5: Now, Click on Forms and Guidelines link to know the basic guidelines. You can open one-by-one file and save it in your desktop and mobile.

Step-6: After reading the basic guidelines, to click on Online Application. Immediately, the following screen will open. Here, you will see Apply Online, View Status and Office Login link. For rooftop consumers, you need to click on Apply Online for apply for a new Solar Rooftop Connection. Now, Enter your Account ID/Consumer ID to proceed. You will get Account ID/Consumer ID on your electricity bill. For example, I have given Account ID: 111111 (for testing purpose). After entering this number and click on Fetch Details, immediately Step 7 will be open.

Step-7: The system will display automatically as per given Account Id. You need enter rooftop solar installation details, such as type of grid connectivity, solar proposed in kWp, and type of connection. After filling all information, Click on Send OTP. Thumb rule of Solar Proposed in kWp – Not More than Sanctioned Load. If you have already sanctioned load is 1 kW, your net meter will approved  1kW only, not more than 1 kW.

Step-8: You will confirm an application after entering OTP. You have to Pay Rs. 1770 to submit application for net meter.

Step-9: You can pay this amount through Credit Card, Debit and Net Banking. After paying amount, you will receive the payment confirmation.

Step 10: Now, you can view status of application.  You need Application Number and Registered Mobile Number. Now, click on View Status.

Step-11: After clicking on View Status, you will see the following screen. You can all information, such as Application Info, Feasibility, PPA, Work Execution and Commissioning.

When you click on Feasibility Tab, you will see the Proposed Solar Capacity and Download PPA Intimation Letter, Draft PPA – Gross Metering and Draft PPA – Net Metering.
