How to Calculate Electricity Rate?

For Domestic Consumers:

Step 1: How many units of electricity are consumed by you in a month? Let suppose, your answer (consumed unit) will be 2596 Units.

Step 2 : Now, you need to check your consumed units come in which slab rate. As per above answer it will come in  "Above 801 Units" and its "Per Unit Cost" is 7.10 Rs.

Step 3 : You can simply multiply "Consumed Units * Per Unit Cost".

For Example:-

Your Consumed Units is 2596 Units and Per Unit Cost is Rs. 7.10. Now apply the formula -

"Consumed Units * Per Unit Cost"

then, Energy Charges = 2596 * 7.10 = 18436.57 (It's not total electricity bill).

Now add some extra charges such as Fuel Surcharge Adjustment, Electricity Duty, Municipal Tax, and more in electricity bill. The charges is Rs. 1608.4.

Then, Energy Charges + Other Charges = Total Electricity Bill
"18436.57 + 1608.4 = 20044.57"

Now, you can calculate per unit cost = Total Electricity Bill / Consumed Units "20044.57 / 2596 = 7.72"

"Your Per Unit Cost is Rs. 7.72"

That means, you need to pay ~10% extra according to actual per unit cost.

For Commercial Consumers:

There is no slab unit rate for commercial consumers as well as there is no subsidy on this type meter connection.

Avg. price of commercial electricity rate of Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation Limited is "6.40" and then Consumed Units are "9380",

then Electricity bill of this onsumer is 9380 * 6.40 = 60032.

Electricity Bill of the Consumer is "60032".

There are some extra charges such as Fixed Charges, Fuel Surcharge Adjustment, Electricity Duty, Municipal Tax, and more. The charges is "10805.76".

Now, Energy Charges + Other Charges = Total electricity bill
"60032 + 10805.76 = 70575.99"

Now, you can calculate per unit cost = Total Electricity Bill / Consumed Units "70575 / 9380 = 7.52"
"Your Per Unit Cost is Rs. 7.52"
That means, you need to pay ~15% to ~20% extra according to actual per unit cost.
