The world of generation of electricity through solar energy itself has seen a number of changes. One such change is the use of different kinds of battery. One such type of battery that has been widely in use for a long time is a lithium battery.
Simply stating, batteries that have lithium as their anode is called lithium batteries. The charge moves from anode to cathode during discharge and cathode to anode during charging. Lithium batteries were introduced way back in the 1980-the 1990s. These batteries have completely revolutionized the portable electronics market such as cellular telephones and laptop computers.
Types of lithium batteries:
- Lithium-ion Batteries- A lithium-ion battery is a type of rechargeable battery that is charged and discharged by lithium ions moving between the negative (anode) and positive (cathode) electrodes
- Lithium Ferro Phosphate Batteries- The lithium iron phosphate battery or LFP battery is a type of lithium-ion battery using lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material, and a graphitic carbon electrode with a metallic backing as the anode.
- Lithium Titanium Oxide Batteries- The advantages of Lithium Titanate Oxide (lithium titanium oxide) battery technology are significant and the whole LTO technology is a game-changer for the entire battery industry. The LTO is bringing a new dimension of possibilities for the energy storage with a number of economical as well as ecological aspects.
