A battery is a device that stores chemical energy that can be converted to electrical energy. It is used as a source for DC electrical equipment or can be converted into AC using inverters.
How does a battery work?
During charging, the electrical charge travels into the battery from the positive terminal. Inside the battery, it gets stored in the form of chemical energy of the electrolyte forming a potential difference at the terminals of the battery.
During discharge, as the load is connected to the terminals of the battery, the chemical reaction starts to supply electrical power to the load.
There are many kinds of batteries available in the market like lead-acid batteries, lithium battery and dry batteries. These batteries are made for multipurpose such as storing power to use in a grid outage. It could be for starting your automobile vehicle or using at your home during a power outage or its use in railway train to light/fans for passengers.
So, it’s a kind of device which stores chemical energy and then it converts to electrical energy to power appliances and multitype equipment’s.
