What is a static inverter?
Static inverter is the same as a UPS system except they are configured to operate in 'active standby' mode with the bypass supplying the load during normal conditions. When a mains failure occurs contactors are used to transfer to inverter with the standby batteries then supporting the load (typically for 1 hour or 3 hours depending on application). This type of product is generally used in emergency lighting applications, offering efficient backup with reduced running costs, although provides no filtering or protection for more sensitive loads such as computer equipment.
